- Plan early so that you get enough time for needful arrangements.

- You should know your choice. Ask yourself and your partner why you want to visit that particular place. It should be oriented with your likes and dislikes.

- You should be well informed about the place you are planning to visit. The information includes about the culture, weather, connectivity, and about your accommodation.

- Search for reviews about the place and about your accommodation.

- Search for any health warning related to endemic or other medical issues. You should take appropriate preventive measures before visiting the place.

- Search for easy access routes and get contact information of local authorities in case of any emergency situation.

- Search for food habits of the locality and hygiene conditions.

- Carry a map of the place or get it from the tourist information counter.

- Inform anyone you trust about your visit. Search for friends or colleagues from the place where you are visiting and get information from them.

- Get weather information before visiting the place.

- Try to travel in a group. If you are visiting alone, then try to find other similar tourists and form a group.

- Keep your ears and eyes open all the time to have an idea what’s going on around you.

- Your baggage should be always light weight.

- You should be aware of the local law which may be very stringent.

You should respect the local culture even you feel it's obsolete habit. 

- Judiciously select your clothing based on your choices and weather condition.

- Recharge your smart phones and check for data availability with roaming. Download necessary apps like mobility or any other emergency service apps.

- Take your camera and battery charger if you are fond of photography.

- Always carry travel documents and identity cards safely along with you for verification. 

Don’t (s)

- Don’t comment against the local culture and anything you don’t like about the place to the local people. You may face serious trouble.

- Bargaining with local vendors is not a good idea.

- Don’t go to any isolated place alone.

- Don't fight with anyone and avoid any potential conflict area.

- Don’t drink with unknowns if you are an alcoholic. 

- Don’t carry large amount of cash while travelling.

- Don’t carry unnecessary items. Don’t carry heavy items and laptops etc. which are not needed if you are going for enjoying leisure time.  

- Avoid leather shoes (if you are going for a nature walk or to a beach), expensive jewelry items, and other delicate items which are not essential.
